The parents of two Tucson boys beaten to death in Phoenix last week donated their sons' organs, aiding nine other children, the boys' mothers said through an intermediary.
Police say cousins Jesse Michael Casillas Ramirez, Jr., 7, and Edwin Anthony Pellecier, Jr., 10, were beaten by a Phoenix man at a park near their home Dec. 23. They died Dec. 26.
Both boys, who suffered severe head injuries, died in the pediatric intensive care unit at St. Joseph's Hospital in Phoenix.
Each boy has helped to save the lives of several other children through organ donation, Leland said.
Jesse's heart, kidneys and liver went to four children.
Edwin's organs were donated to five children.
